    It involves the following steps:

    Step 1: Identify the Numbers

    Identify the numbers (integers) you want to subtract. For example Subtract -4 from 5.

    Step 2: Change the Subtraction Sign to Addition Sign

    Rewrite the Subtraction as an addition. The difference (Subtraction) between two integers is the same as addition. For 5 -(-4) you can change it to 5 + 4.

    Step 3: Understand the Rule

    The rule is x-y = x + (-y)

    It means subtracting a number is the same as adding its negative counterpart.

    Step 4: Perform the Addition

    Add the number after applying the rule

    • If both numbers are positive simply add them e.g 5+4 =9
    • If one number is negative, subtract the smaller absolute value from larger absolute value and take sign from number with the larger absolute value.

    Step 5: Verify with Examples

    (1) 10-2
